Not trying to be funny. But does he just sit back during the game and let his coordinators run the show?
Does he tell Petzing to run the ball on the next play or pass the ball on the next play?
Does he tell Rallis I want an all out blitz on the next play or play zone?
Does he ever veto a call made?
Or does he just wait to evaluate the game afterward? He doesn’t seem to be in the loop. Post game interviews usually are answered “I liked the call” but it almost appears like he didn’t know what the call was until afterwards.
I’m sure he makes the decision to go for it on 4th down or to kick the fg but he really seems to be more of a spectator/cheerleader during the game.

I think his job is to call timeouts, and that’s it. He’s already publicly said he would never change one of his coordinators calls, so he’s obviously not directing them during the game.

This is somewhat correct as far as game day responsibilities. He also designs the game plan and decides to go for it, kick a fg, and the like during the game.

So he may say go for it but he let's Petzing decide what play to call.

Out of game his job is to teach and lead.

If he could run an offense or if anyone else could on the staff could, Petzing would have been fired already.

We desperately need experienced coaches and need to take some from the NFC west.

When I sat behind the bench last year, he NEVER once engaged with the offense, but he did with the defense several times. Pulled them together and screamed at them, also was trying to pump them up at times. Rallis did not do this once. When the defense was on the sideline, Rallis was watching film with select players or by himself. Baker was doing the same and working with the other safeties a lot too.

I still find it odd that JG never once approached the offense. DP did not either, but Drew Terrell was sitting with Kyler and Tune after every series showing them game film. Terrell was the only one who seems truly engaged on offense.

The lack of leadership with this coaching staff is remarkable.

The flip side of that is Gannon is the only positive on the NFLPA card, so his type of teaching leadership does seem to be well received. You can even say it was working prior to this year.

Where we have gone off the rails this year is in the in game management and play calling.

That reminds me of how Kliff generally didn't talk to the defense (at least that's how I remember it).

So then it isn’t just Brissett?

Trying to distance himself from our play calling is pretty shrewd on his part

I mean that is my style of management. If I have to micromanage you, then the relationship isn't going to work.

Where Gannon fails is being relentlessly supportive of failed calls. It comes across as lacking accountability

I think he sees his role as game planning. Once the game starts he seems to believe in letting his coaches run the show. Sadly he seems to be unable to adjust to what isn’t working by instituting substantial change. He just believes that doing the same thing repeatedly will result in change. I know what that is a definition of!

That is a good quality to a degree, but I agree that he needs to stick his nose in when things aren't right.

If that's his role, he needs to go now. He doesn't seem to have a good game plan going in most games...

Ok here me out: remember JG saying Kyler needs to be like JG on the field.

Whatever happened there? :)
