The New England Patriotstraded center Garrett Bradbury to the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round draft pick on Friday afternoon. Now, we are learning more about what this saves the Patriots in salary cap space.

Bradbury signed a two-year, $12 million deal with the organization last March. He appeared and started in all 17 games for the Patriots last season. He served as a veteran presence on an offensive line starting two rookies on the left side, including Will Campbell and Jared Wilson. It proved to be a solid addition for the Patriots in 2025.

By moving on from Bradbury, the Patriots will free up an additional $5.6 million in salary cap space. That should put them over $60 million in available cap space ahead of free agency, per MassLive's Mark Daniels.

The extra cap space gives the Patriots plenty of flexibility to continue improving their roster after their surprising Super Bowl run. With Bradbury gone, it also clears the path for Wilson to slide back into his more natural position at center.
