Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez has dominated the headlines all summer but the Argentina star remains an Atletico Madrid player as we head into the final days of July.

Los Colchoneros have made it clear on several occasions they do not want to sell Alvarez even though the forward has said he wants out of the club.

The latest updates this weekend have claimed that Barcelona “won’t go crazy” for Alvarez and don’t want to improve their €100 million offer.

Mundo Deportivo also report that Barcelona are relaxed about the situation as they consider they have plenty of options in attack, with Karim Adeyemi, Anthony Gordon, Ferran Torres, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. Barca also have high hopes for exciting youngster Hamza Abdelkarim.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has insisted the club do have “alternatives” to Alvarez but Enric Masip has insisted the club won’t spend for the sake of it.
