For a second time this year, Michigan State came up short in a hard-fought battle against their rival Michigan.
The Spartans' upset bid at rival Michigan came up short, with the Wolverines pulling away late in the second half for the 90-80 win over the Spartans. The loss to Michigan completed a season sweep of the Spartans for the Wolverines, which was the first for them since 2018.
Following the game, Dusty May took the podium and spoke to the media, where he commented the Wolverines' win and his thoughts about the Spartans. See what May had to say about the win:

- “We found enough in the tank, and we found some different ways to create enough offense and defense to get out of here with a win against an extremely talented Michigan State group.”
- “They kicked our butt. They made us elevate our game.” He added that he believes they will see Michigan State again, and that they may be on “the other side” in the Big Ten Tournament.
- "As far as being the hunter or being the hunted, it's the same for us. We are obsessed with playing great basketball possession by possession."
- "I think it's a great rivalry. It's a lot of fun. I didn't know how big this rivalry was, and I caught a lot of heat from last year when I didn't know their traditions after senior night. I knew they kissed the floor but I assumed it was like everybody else where it was after the game going through the ceremony. Kind of like how we did (tonight)."
- "There are some chants from student sections that I wouldn't agree with. I wouldn't want them to say. But you turn on your TV and it's part of the competitive environment. Is it toxic? I don't know. I thought those players in both games battle, I thought last year when they swept us, they battled and they earned it."
