The Basketball Tournament has reformatted its structure for 2026.

The event previously featured a 64-team field, but this year, it was trimmed to 16 squads.

Arguably the biggest change is that TBT no longer uses a single-elimination format in the first round.

The Ville, Louisville's alumni team, is facing La Familia, Kentucky's alumni squad, in a best-of-three series. La Familia defeated The Ville 72-68 in the first game Saturday, July 18, at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington.

The Ville will look to even the series Monday, July 20, at Freedom Hall to keep their TBT season — and hopes of winning the $2 million prize — alive.
