LSU women's basketball star forward Aneesah Morrow was selected by the Connecticut Sun with the No. 7 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 WNBA Draft Monday night.

Morrow's projection of where she fits in the WNBA has been one of the fascinating stories for any prospect in this year's draft. There's been talk of teams being unsure about what she would be able to do as a pro. But Morrow earned All-American status this season for the Tigers.

"What more can I do?" Morrow told The Daily Advertiser after the Tigers were eliminated in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament last month. "I don't really pay attention to it honestly because it's about going to the perfect fit for me. I could go to a team and sit on the bench and not be able to do anything.

"I've accomplished what I have this year. I made history almost every time I stepped on the floor and I'm proud of that. You can't take that away from me. I've come a long way this season."

Morrow is undersized for her position of forward at 6-foot. She hasn't shot the ball particularly well outside of the paint, but there are immeasurable skills that she possesses that don't show up on the stat in terms of her toughness, drive and ambition.

Despite those questions marks, Connecticut has taken a chance on Morrow.

This season, Morrow led LSU in scoring at 18.7 points per game and led the nation in rebounding at 13.5 per game. She made 49% of her field goals and collected 2.5 steals per game, a stat she wanted to make headway in this season, which she did.

Morrow is the fifth LSU player under Kim Mulkey to be drafted into the WNBA and the fourth in the last three seasons joining her former teammate and forward Angel Reese as well as point guard Alexis Morris and forward LaDazhia Williams from the 2023 national championship team.
