What are the 5 worst blown leads in Commanders' history?

How many of you Washington Commanders fans noticed the horrific loss by the Nats this past Wednesday?

The Nats had a 9-1 lead in the eighth inning and lost the game in 9 innings. Is that even possible? Well, it is now, because the Nats pulled it off, falling 11-10 to the San Francisco Giants on a 9th inning walk-off grand slam home run. The Nats had the three-game road sweep of the Giants sewn up, leading 9-1 in the eighth, only to find out it wasn't so sewn up after all.

This is the worst Washington baseball loss of a regular-season game I can ever recall. There couldn't be one to match it, could there? Hey, what are the worst Washington Redskins/Commanders losses you recall experiencing?

Here are five really bad blown lead losses by Washington that I recall.

• 1979 at Dallas: The Redskins led 34-21 late in the final quarter, yet allowed the Cowboys to score twice to snatch away the season finale 35-34, knocking the Redskins out of the playoffs, in an era when only four teams per conference qualified for the playoffs.
• 1989 at Washington: The Redskins had two 20-point first-half leads (20-0 and 27-7). Yet Randall Cunningham and the Eagles came back to win, taking their first and only lead, winning 42-37.
• 1999 at Washington: The Redskins season opener saw Washington fall behind early 14-3, but then outscore Dallas 32-0 to lead 35-14 in the third quarter. However, Dallas scored three consecutive touchdowns, sending the game to overtime at 35-35. Troy Aikman then completed a 76-yard winning pass to Rocket Ismail.
• 1983 at Washington: It was the season opener, a MNF rematch of the 1982 NFC Championship Game, a 31-17 Washington win over Dallas. The Redskins looked awesome in the first half, racing to a 23-3 halftime lead. Danny White picked apart the Redskins in the second half for a huge comeback win, 31-30.
• 2019 at Philadelphia: The Eagles hosted the season opener. The Redskins had long touchdowns by Vernon Davis, then Terry McLaurin, to lead 17-0, and 20-7 at the half. The Eagles then scored 25 straight to lead 32-20 and win 32-27.
