The Philadelphia 76ers are in the process of searching for a new voice to lead the basketball operations department after parting ways with Daryl Morey. For six seasons, Morey was the team's President of Basketball Operations and did his best to position the Sixers the best way he can to get them to the finals.

Unfortunately, the Sixers were never able to get over that Round 2 hump and they decided it was time to part ways and bring in a new voice. In the interim, Bob Myers is running things in the front office as well as leading the search to make sure Philadelphia is in the right spot for future contention.

In terms of the latest update, Marc Stein reportedly named four candidates via his substack:

There are presently four main candidates in contention to be the 76ers' next president of basketball operations: Cleveland's Mike Gansey, Minnesota's Matt Lloyd, Phoenix Mercury GM Nick U'Ren and Sixers assistant general manager Jameer Nelson.

Lloyd has been a hot name on the front office scene for a while. He has been in an NBA front office since 1999 and has been the GM of the Timberwolves since 2022. Before his time in Minnesota, he was the assistant GM of the Orlando Magic for 10 years. He has paid his dues and deserves the opportunity to run a front office.
