Kentucky moved into the winner bracket with a win over Wake Forest. Today's matchup included familiar foes. West Virginia and Kentucky have faced each other three times in the NCAA Regionals over last four years. Splitting that series 2-2.

Kentucky manager Nick Mingione is not overlooking the Mountaineers. "You don't get to host a regional without being a balanced, well-coached team", Mingione said. "And that's what West Virginia is."

The balance of pressure is on West Virginia. This will be only the 3rd time the Mountaineers have hosted a regional. West Virginia is also chasing its elusive first ever College Baseball World Series berth in program history.

The balance of expectation is in Kentucky's favor. The Wildcats are playing with house money. One of the last teams to make the field, expectations are low and they can play loose.
