It's about time. This is the best news I've seen in a long time. Phoenix has been a wasteland since Fry's went under. I've wanted one of these stores for long time now. 44th and Thomas is a great location for it too.

How's this compare to Fry's Electronics and Radio Shack of yore?

So in the old Conn's store space.
I'm assuming that's the space it's going into. I think it's the only one big enough for it. I gassed up at that Costco on Saturday and was wondering what was going to go into there.

Like Fry's. Big store that has all of the tech and nerd stuff. They carry all of the stuff like 3D printing material and components that I've been having to order since there's no good local shops for it.

I googled it - the address lines up with the Conn's space

My buddies say that their customer service is really good too. They play a good commission on sales so the guys are actually helpful and work with you. Unlike most of the big box stores.

I'm honestly excited over this. After how bad Apple's announcements were today at WWDC I needed some decent tech news.

Man I loved that place. When I built a computer I would spend like 10 hours in there with a note pad and calculator figuring out the best build I could afford.

Fry's on steroids from what I know.

From a work buddy this morning:
Micro Center is much better than Fry’s. I used to go to the Elston location all the time in Chicago. A computer nerd’s paradise! It’s great to be able to find random cables and components at an actual store. Like others have said, great customer service all around! Really cool shop.
Just walking around browsing is fun.

Fun story from 20 years ago at Fry's. They would take anything back, but needed a reason. We were helping a friend build a PC and he got the wrong power supply and he wanted to know what to tell the guy. We told him to tell him he needed 1.21 gigawatts and didn't realize he need something else to help generate that much power. We stood just far enough to snicker and almost died when the clerk said, "Yeah, you probably need plutonium for that." The two of standing fell over laughing. The clerk got a good laugh too, but our fiends was clueless.
