One more ride and a return to Michigan State football appears on the horizon for Charles Brantley.
According to multiple reports, the former Spartan cornerback who left for Miami (Florida) following the 2024 season will return to East Lansing for his final season of eligibility.
Things didn’t work out this season with his home state Hurricanes for Brantley, a native of Sarasota, Florida. The 6-foot, 170-pound senior finished with one tackle in three games but found himself behind younger cornerbacks for Miami, which plays Ole Miss on Thursday night in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Brantley began his career at MSU in 2021 but suffered four season-ending injuries and entered the portal and withdrew twice in 2023 (April and December) before transferring to Miami on his third entry after the 2024 campaign.
In 2024, Brantley earned honorable mention All-Big Ten from the coaches and media with three interceptions and seven pass breakups along with 27 tackles. However, he missed the final three games after suffering a lower left leg injury and missed 18 games total due to injury in his MSU career despite starting 24 of the 31 games he played in four seasons.
Brantley had 103 tackles and five interceptions with 18 pass breakups as a Spartan. He scored two touchdowns on interceptions – an MSU-record 100-yard return against Prairie View A&M in 2024 and another TD off an pickoff of Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud in 2022 – and delivered the game-clinching pick in the Spartans’ thrilling victory over Michigan in 2021 as a true freshman.
