Texas A&M baseball has adjusted its weekend schedule against the Vanderbilt Commodores, moving Saturday’s finale up to avoid expected inclement weather. The series will now conclude with a Friday doubleheader on April 3, with Game 2 at 2 p.m. CST and Game 3 at 6 p.m. CST.

It’s far from ideal timing for an Aggie pitching staff that burned through five relievers in Thursday’s 14–8 loss. That workload puts even more pressure on Weston Moss to deliver a long outing in Game 2, giving a depleted bullpen any chance to stabilize before the nightcap. With A&M fighting to climb back above .500 in SEC play, this series carries real weight.

Offensively, the Aggies have taken a noticeable step forward from last season. Their approach has sharpened, the strike-zone discipline is improved, and they’re averaging roughly nine runs per game in conference play. The problem is that they’re surrendering almost ten.

The pitching simply hasn’t kept pace with the bats, and the season‑ending injuries to key relievers Josh Stewart and Caden McCoy have only magnified the issue. Both were expected to play major roles, and their absence has stretched the staff thin.

Moving forward, Texas A&M may have no choice but to lean even harder on its offense. Until the pitching stabilizes or reinforcements emerge, the Aggies’ clearest path to stacking wins will come in high‑scoring, pressure‑filled shootouts.

SCHEDULE CHANGE

Due to predicted inclement weather, the series finale with Vanderbilt has been moved to a Friday doubleheader starting at 2pm.
