The TSSAA track and field state tournament is on a 30-minute lightning delay.
Several lightning strikes in the area forced TSSAA officials to clear the area right before the girls 300-meter dash in Division II-A. There were 18 remaining running events left on Day 2 of the state meet at Tennessee's Tom Black Track.
The running events were moved up from its scheduled start time of 4 p.m. (ET) to a 3:45 p.m. because of the looming weather. In the original schedule, the Class A girls 300 would have started a 7:05 p.m.
Track is the latest spring sport championship to get impacted by weather. TSSAA baseball, softball and boys soccer were also delayed on May 20 because of weather in Murfreesboro. Play, there, has since resumed.
