SIOUX FALLS — Watertown and Aberdeen area athletes combined to win six events in the 101st Howard Wood Dakota Relays track and field meet on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2, 2206.
Taryn Hermansen of Aberdeen Central (girls' shot put, 47-5.75) and Hadlee Holt of Iroquois-Lake Preston (girls' discus, 153-1) each won individual events in the meet.
Four area relay teams added wins including Sioux Valley's foursome of Mitchell Guthmiller, Hunter Steinhaus, Brady Hiltunen and Carson Wosje in the Class A boys' sprint medley (3:33.09) and 1,600 (3:27.37) relays.
Deubrook Area won the Class B boys' 3,200 relay (8:30.08) with runners Josh Mitchell, Luke Jorenby, Charlie Olsen and Jason Moberg and Ipswich took the Class B girls' 3,200 relay (9:57.63) with runners Kalynn Oban, Isabella Galbraith, Madisyn Gellhaus and Marley Guthmiller.

Charlie Whiting (third in boys' pole vault, 14-3), Malia Kranz (third in girls' discus, 139-7), Dane Stark (seventh in boys' 1,600-meter run, 4:16.79), Elly Dingsor (seventh in girls' pole vault, 11-3) and Shauna Evenson (eighth in girls' triple jump, 35-7.5) each placed in individual events for the Arrows.
Watertown runners Carighan Klatt, Anna Hirtz, Ashlynn Andrews and Alayna Smith finished sixth in the Class AA girls' 400 relay (49.66).
Whiting also joined Jerome Zebroski, Knox Bretsch and Hudson Engels in recording a seventh-place finish in the Unified 400 relay (1:11.98).
Aberdeen Central also got individual-event placings from Kyson Fayant (second in boys' 300 hurdles, 38.33), Jack Bertsch (sixth in discus, 160-6) and Jaidyn Forsyth (eighth in girls' pole vault, 10-9).
Fayant also teamed with Caden Forred, Carter Lust and Karson Borge to place seventh in the Class AA boys' 400 relay (43.55).
Oliver Fieber of Deuel and Ella Boekelheide of Northwestern each finished fourth in special races on Friday, May 1.
Fieber was fourth in the boys' 200 dash special with a time of 22.0. Cauy Konz of Treynor, IA won the race in 21.22.
Boekelheide took fourth in the girls' 800 run special with a time of 2:11.84. Peyton VanDeest of Spearfish won the race in 2:09.81.
