The NFL Draft may be over, but anyone who believes the real work ends when the final pick is announced hasn’t been paying attention. For organizations like the Baltimore Ravens, that’s when one of the most fascinating parts of roster construction begins. Baltimore recently shared a nearly hour-long episode of Ravens Wired. It offered fans rare behind-the-scenes access to the days leading up to the 2026 NFL Draft, the war room conversations surrounding selections like Vega Ioane, Zion Young, and Ja’Kobi Lane, and perhaps most interestingly, the chaotic sprint that follows when teams pivot toward signing undrafted rookie free agents.

The Ravens officially signed 19 undrafted rookies after the draft, reinforcing how aggressive they remain in talent acquisition even after making 11 draft selections. That part of the process never gets enough attention.

The Ravens’ UDFA process helps explain why they stay competitive

Anyone can make draft picks. Identifying overlooked talent while the rest of the league scrambles for signatures requires something else entirely. Speed matters. Relationships matter. Preparation matters.

Watching Baltimore's staff work through that process offers a reminder of why this franchise has remained one of the NFL's model organizations for so long. There's urgency, but there's also calm. There's structure. There's conviction. Nobody appears to be guessing. That's likely because they aren't.

The draft isn't the only way to become a Raven. Here's what our UDFA process looks like behind the scenes.

History suggests that at least one or two names from this undrafted class will become worth remembering. The Ravens have built a reputation for finding legitimate contributors where other teams see a roster filler. That legacy includes players who entered the league with little fanfare before carving out meaningful roles in Baltimore.

This year’s group includes intriguing names like quarterbacks Diego Pavia and Joe Fagnano, defensive back Lardarius Webb Jr., and several other developmental prospects hoping to force difficult roster decisions this summer. Not everyone will stick. Most won’t. That isn’t the point. The point is that watching the Ravens operate makes something obvious. Great organizations rarely rely solely on draft weekend headlines. They treat every avenue of roster-building seriously.

Baltimore’s behind-the-scenes footage doesn’t just show player acquisition. It shows why this franchise keeps finding players everyone else missed. Somewhere in that group of overlooked names may be the Ravens’ next hidden gem, and that alone is reason to be excited.
