ATHENS, GA — Mississippi State baseball's scoring threat in the first inning against Georgia ended on a controversial third strike call and coach Brian O'Connor was livid.

Star freshman Jacob Parker was batting with a runner on second base and two outs at Foley Field on June 7 in Game 2 of the Athens Super Regional. He checked his swing, and third base umpire Mike Fichter called it strike three.

O'Connor jumped out of MSU's dugout yelling at Fichter and also home plate umpire Brian Marine. He was not ejected from the game.

Video of the play showed a great angle of Parker's checked swing and O'Connor's reaction.
