STARKVILLE — Mississippi State baseball advancing to the super regional in the NCAA Tournament triggered another contract bonus for coach Brian O'Connor.

He'll now receive an extra $50,000 after the Bulldogs (43-17) dominated the Starkville Regional. O'Connor received $50,000 for getting the Bulldogs in the NCAA Tournament.

MSU, the No. 14 national seed, will face No. 3 Georgia (49-12) in the Athens Super Regional starting on either June 5 or 6.

Brian O'Connor contract bonuses​


O'Connor can earn up to $500,000 in bonuses each year:

  • SEC regular season championship: $50,000
  • SEC Tournament championship: $50,000
  • SEC Coach of the Year: $50,000
  • National Coach of the Year: $50,000

The highest of the following NCAA Tournament bonuses will be awarded if more than one is applicable:

  • NCAA Tournament appearance: $50,000
  • NCAA Tournament super regional appearance: $100,000
  • College World Series: $150,000
  • College World Series final: $200,000
  • National championship: $300,000

Brian O'Connor contract, salary​


O'Connor signed a six-year contract with Mississippi State through the 2031 season, averaging $2.9 million annually. He's earning $2.5 million for the 2026 season.

His salary will increase by $150,000 annually until it reaches $3.3 million in 2031.
