Talk about an emotional Father's Day gift at the U.S. Open.

Miles Russell, the 17-year-old playing in his first major championship this week at Shinnecock Hills in Southampton, New York, had a good surprise for his dad on the 72nd hole Sunday. Russell's caddie, his swing coach Ramon Bescansa, took off the caddie bib and passed it over to Russell's father, Joe. The father and son then strolled up the hill together to enjoy the walk up 18 on Father's Day.

Russell went to a rules official on the 18th hole and asked whether his dad could replace Bescansa as caddie for the final hole, and that is allowed. Joe slipped on the bib and helped Russell make par on the closing hole to shoot 70 on Sunday and finish at 7 over for the week.

Russell, the No. 1 junior in the world and Florida State commit, played alongside No. 1 amateur Jackson Koivun for both weekend rounds. Koivun birdied his final hole to shoot 68 on Sunday and finish at 5 over for the week.

The duo had an incredible weekend side by side, but Russell's moment with his father strolling up the 18th may be one of the best non-golf shots from the 2026 U.S. Open.
