FARRELL, Pa. (WKBN) – A colossal matchup is on tap for this Friday as Mercer County rivals Sharon and Farrell will clash on the hardwood for a critical District 10 showdown.

WKBN’s High School Basketball Game of the Week will be out in full force to give you this matchup LIVE on MyYTV, WKBN.com, WKBN+ and on the WKBN app.

It’ll be a historic night at E.J. McCluskey Gymnasium.

Farrell featured five double-figure scorers as the Steelers were led by Juelz Johnson’s triple-double (24 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists). Levi Hailstock and Derek Douglas added 19 and 16 for the Tigers.

Game Notes
-Sharon had defeated Farrell in four straight meetings before falling last year on Feb. 11, 71-67, to the Steelers.

-The Tigers defeated Central Valley, 60-55, at Westminster College on Sunday behind a trio of double-digit scorers: Cedrick Boyd (18), Jeremiah Nixon (18) and Heath Miller (16). Three days later (on Wednesday), Sharon won a thriller in overtime, 61-59, by topping Hickory. Nixon led the way with 22.

-Sharon’s won eight of nine games where they’ve held the opposition to 55 points or less this year.

Marvin Redding leads Sharon past rival Farrell

-Since the Steelers’ 10-point win against Harding on Jan. 3 (51-41), Farrell had dropped four games in a row before posting a 71-56 victory over Mercer on Wednesday. Three of those four setbacks were decided by 6 points or less (Neighborhood Academy by 6, Hickory by 3 on a last-second buzzer beater, Moon by 3).

-In Farrell’s loss to Moon on Saturday, Juelz Johnson led the team with 15 points. The night before, against Hickory, Malcolm Norman paced the Steelers with 14 points while Dorean Cain added 10.

Farrell wins fourth straight District 10 title

-The Steelers will begin a four-game road swing that’ll take the Navy Blue and Gold to Slippery Rock, Grove City, Hickory and Mercer.
