The first big moment surrounding the 2026 Masters Tournament belongs to former Alabama golfer Justin Thomas.
On Wednesday afternoon, Thomas, while participating in the Masters Par 3 Contest, delivered the first of what will be many memorable moments this week in Augusta, draining a hole-in-one during the annual event. Thomas' hole-in-one came on the hole two, draining the shot from the tee box.
While the Par 3 Contest score does not apply to the actual tournament, Thomas did still impress during the event as well, which annually opens the Masters, by shooting a -1 (26) throughout the nine-hole course.
Thomas is one-of-two former Alabama golfers playing this year in Augusta, with he and Davis Riley both looking to win their first green jacket later this weekend.
A veteran at the Masters, Thomas is making his eleventh consecutive appearance in Augusta, which dates back to 2014. Thomas' best finish ever was fourth back in 2020, with the former Alabama standout finished tied-36 a year ago after missing the cut in both 2023 and 2024.
Riley will be making his second appearance at the Masters this week after debuting a year ago. In his first taste of Augusta last year, Riley certainly impressed by finishing ahead of Thomas at tied-21, and had a solid start to the week Wednesday by shooting a 28 (+1) in the Par 3 Contest.
The 2026 Masters Tournament will officially begin Thursday, April 9, from Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Thomas' first round will begin at 1:32 p.m. ET, while Riley will tee-off at 11:51 a.m. ET.
