Jordan Stolz, the 21-year-old speed skating star from Kewaskum, won his first Olympic gold medal Wednesday, Feb. 11 in the men's 1,000-meter race at the Milano Speed Skating Stadium in Milan, Italy.
Stolz won with an Olympic-record time of 1:06.28. Racing with rival Jenning De Boo of the Netherlands, Stolz made up more than a second on the final lap to coast past De Boo, who took silver. China's Ning Zhongyan won the bronze.
After the race, Stolz stood atop the podium and received his gold medal, followed by the national anthem.
