The Los Angeles Rams had their backs up against the ropes Monday night with the Atlanta Falcons leading 24-10 and about to make it a 17-point game with a short field goal attempt.
Jared Verse said otherwise, coming up with the biggest play of the game and possibly the best of his career.
He broke through the line cleanly, jumped to block the kick and scooped it up without breaking stride, returning it 76 yards for a touchdown. So instead of the Rams going down 17 points to Atlanta, they only trailed by seven points thanks to Verse’s unbelievable special teams play.
It's worth noting that this is the Rams' first game since firing special teams coordinator Chase Blackburn, replacing him with Ben Kotwica in that role. Whether Kotwica was at the center of that play or not, the Rams weren't making game-changing plays like that on special teams before then.
Special teams has cost the Rams three games but it could help them win this one against the Falcons.
