It’s UFC 329 fight week and you know what that means: it’s time to watch the official UFC 329 McGregor vs. Holloway 2 Countdown show and get hyped for the biggest event of the year.
Conor McGregor is without a doubt the largest star in the history of mixed martial arts. He holds all of the MMA pay-per-view records and propelled the sport to a whole new level that led to UFC selling to WME for $4.4 billion in 2016. He became the first simultaneous two-division champion in UFC history. He fought Floyd Mayweather for a $100+ million payday. And he made over half a billion dollars off his Proper 12 whiskey brand.
That was the past. Now, in 2026, will McGregor be as successful? “The Notorious” returns from a badly broken leg, years of hard partying, and more than one sexual assault allegation levied against him. The UFC Countdown show tells the tale of his rise and his fall, and now his comeback.
“I’ve been gifted this ability to walk, pursue my craft, and for too long, I disgraced that gift,” McGregor admitted in a new interview for the program. “No more. So every day I count and start with a prayer to God that I’m able to get up and go. I am ecstatic with the opportunity that lays ahead of me and I look very forward to my return. I feel there’s so much left for me to conquer in this game. So much more accolades. More belts, more knockouts, more records, more cash.”
“I am taking everything that I have built. The fight game and the combat sports game is McGregor’s world and I am in my prime here now. So it is on me now to go and show that and that’s what I will do.”
McGregor comes into this fight with Holloway having beaten the Hawaiian striker impressively in their first bout 13 years ago. It was such a one sided affair that he blanked “Blessed” on the scorecards and even earned a 10-8 round from one judge.
“I faced him before,” McGregor said. “He took many lessons from that beating I gave him onward in his career and then went on to learn great things. And now I love it because he’s fought so many men. And they’ve fought him a certain way and it’s gone a certain way. So now returns McGregor to show once again the levels and the difference.”
“It’s a masterpiece on July 11th. A McGregor masterpiece.”
