Coach Tina Langley and the Washington Huskies needed some veteran depth to round out their backcourt in the transfer portal, and got some on Friday morning in former Oklahoma State guard and legacy Macey Huard.

The daughter of former UW quarterback Brock Huard didn't play at all during the 2025-26 season after suffering a foot injury in the preseason, which granted her a medical redshirt, meaning she'll have two years of eligibility remaining on Montlake.

When she was healthy during the 2024-25 season with the Cowgirls, the 6-foot-2 Huard dazzled in her debut against Arkansas Pine-Bluff and dropped a career-high 31 points. While playing in 31 games and making three stars, she averaged 6.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game over 15.7 minutes per contest while converting on 32.3 percent of her looks from three-point range.

That percentage from long range is a step down from her freshman year at Montana, where she converted on 36.1 percent of her looks. Now with the Huskies, Huard should be viewed as a potential secondary scoring threat while mainly coming off the bench.

With Elle Ladine's graduation, the Huskies will continue to rely on All-Big Ten First Team honoree Sayvia Sellers and All-Big Ten honorable mention Avery Howell to lead the way in the backcourt, but if Huard can prove she can find her touch from deep, where she's averaged 3.1 attempts per game in her career, she could turn into a strong depth piece for Langley's squad.

After losing three players to the portal in guards Chloe Briggs and Sienna Harvey, along with forward Olivia Anderson, Huard should be viewed as the first of several additions that Langley makes as she looks to take another step forward with the strong core roster she's built.
