In an ideal world, the Washington Commanders would continue their ascension to the NFL throne in 2025 with Jayden Daniels proving last season wasn't a fluke and that the franchise is ready to tear the league apart.
But as we know, success in the NFL isn't linear.
The Commanders added some pieces but also lost some pieces, and other teams got stronger, some got weaker. Let's not forget: It is another offseason for defenses to study Daniels.
Still, Washington's expectations are quite high given the trades for Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil, which to us and to DC fans, holds up a big red sign to the NFL world indicating Super Bowl contention.
But for Gilberto Manzano, he has Washington regressing ever so slightly in 2025, having a 10-7 record and finishing third in the NFC East.
"There’s a lot of hype surrounding the Commanders after they followed Jayden Daniels’s historic rookie season with the splash trades for Samuel and Laremy Tunsil," he writes. "Washington’s roster improved, but so did the competition. The Commanders will face the NFC North and the AFC West, two divisions that had three playoff teams a year ago."

Still, 10-7 equates to a productive season for the Commanders and one that might secure playoff football, and in truth, it is just two fewer wins than a year ago.
With Daniels having another season under his belt and the rest of the roster growing under Dan Quinn, we think a 10-7 record is nothing to sneeze at. However, given the expectations, is that enough to soothe those who thought Super Bowl was on the cards?
Likely not, but if the Commanders have this record at the end of the regular season, we think they will be playoff bound, and once you're there, as last season can attest to, you're in with a shot.
And for the NFL's media darlings, that's all you can ask for in Year 2 with Jayden.
