The Washington Huskies made the cut for 2027 five-star Bremerton High School combo guard Jalen Davis, who announced his top ten schools on Thursday.
Davis, a 6-foot-3 versatile combo guard who is ranked as the nation's No. 20 overall prospect in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite, told On3's Joe Tipton the in-state Huskies are still in the hunt for his services.
UW joins fellow Big Ten schools Iowa, UCLA, and USC along with BYU, Gonzaga, Ole Miss, Stanford, TCU, and Texas Tech, as the programs Davis, a native of Bremerton, Washington, is focusing on as his recruitment carries on.
The Hawkeyes (October 3), Bruins (October 16), and Bulldogs (November 7) will host the coveted Evergreen State native in the coming months. The Huskies already hosted Davis for multiple visits over the past two years since third-year coach Danny Sprinkle became the fifth to offer the top-ranked in-state prospect in March 2025.
"Davis is a skilled guard who differentiates himself with his feel for the game, processing ability, and understanding of how to be a high-volume scorer without having to dominate the basketball," 247Sports' director of scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote in an evaluation of the guard.
"He put up over 23 points per game in the 3SSB season, on over 49 percent shooting from the floor, while playing largely off the ball. He moves without the ball extremely well. He’s a good cutter, knows how to use screens, and is still a very effective passer. There aren’t many players in high school basketball who can read a pin-down and then make a pocket pass if the big helps on his catch, but Davis is one of them. His ability to make quick reads and decisions is one of the most impressive parts of his game."
Over the past couple of years, Sprinkle has opted to utilize the transfer portal and international market to comprise his rosters, especially this past offseason. Only Mount Si forward/guard Lattimore Ford joined the program this summer from the high school ranks, a sign that above all else, in-state talent can and should be retained.
The benefit of UW adding multiple transfer guards this past offseason is that most have only one year of eligibility left, a path that could smoothly serve as a bridge to Davis' addition, should he choose to spurn several national programs in favor of staying home to suit up for the Huskies.
