The Washington Huskies are among eight finalists for elite five-star Prolific Prep strong forward Malachi Jordan.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound senior is originally from White House, Tennessee, but plays for Prolific Prep in Florida and sits as the No. 13 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
The coveted forward has already made an official visit to UW last October when the football team hosted then-No. 24-ranked Illinois at Husky Stadium—a 42-25 victory over the Illini—a week after coach Danny Sprinkle and the Huskies formally offered him a scholarship.
Johnson is one of the most sought-after prospects in the country with roughly two dozen offers, of which he's cut his list down to Alabama, Connecticut, Kansas, Ohio State, Tennessee, USC, Vanderbilt and UW.
"They all have a rich background in putting guys at my position in the league," Jordan told 247Sports after making his final list of schools. "I need to be smart about my development. All these schools develop really well and have great coaches. Some are close to home, some are far, but all have something in common."This fall, Johnson has official visits scheduled to USC (Sept. 4), Vanderbilt (Sept. 19), Tennessee (Sept. 25) and Alabama (Oct. 9), with a potential return trip to Seattle at some point before his decision still always a possibility if Sprinkle and new assistant coach DeAndre Haynes and Quincey Pondexter can make a strong impression.
"They can just consistently talk to me, making me feel like it's a family," Jordan added. "Just the development piece again. My goal is to be one-and-done, but however long it takes me is how long I'll be there."
