The Washington Huskies officially announced the signing of Rutgers transfer Harun Zrno on Monday afternoon.
The 6-foot-7 product of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who spent one year with the Scarlet Knights, averaged 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game across just over 19 minutes of action per contest, shot 35.6 percent from the field and 33.8 percent from three-point range, which included a season-high 21 in a road loss to Wisconsin, where he knocked down five threes.
Now on Montlake, coach Danny Sprinkle believes that his shooting ability and experience in the Big Ten could bring a boost to his roster ahead of his third season on Montlake.
“Harun is a tremendous piece to add late, with great size and shooting ability,” Sprinkle said in a press release. ”He showed his potential with some really good games as a freshman at Rutgers last year, especially his three-point shooting ability.”
“Having Big Ten experience and making the typical freshman-to-sophomore-year jump will help Harun have a great year for us. He fits around a lot of different lineups because of his offensive versatility and shooting.”
Sprinkle and the Huskies have leaned heavily on the international ranks to round out their roster, as Zrno makes six overseas on the roster, all of whom could play important parts in the rotation. Washington also has Serbian forward Nikola Dzepina, French center Mady Traore, Australian guard Tristan Devers, Croatian forward Boris Tišma, and Brazilian forward Wini Braga from overseas.
