BOSTON - Kristaps Porzingis was applauded warmly between the first and second quarters as the Golden State Warriors played the Boston Celtics and his highlights played on the videoboard.

Serving as the only highlights Wednesday for a Warrior.

Porzingis returned to TD Garden, his homecourt with Boston the previous two years, to garner a standing ovation as his video tribute played midway through the first half. He helped the Celtics to the 2023-24 NBA title but couldn't help the Warriors duck a 120-99 defeat, their eighth in 10 games.

Gary Payton II had 14 points and six rebounds for Golden State - playing again without Stephen Curry, Al Horford, Moses Moody and Seth Curry - and Pat Spencer added 14 points. But the Warriors struggled with their halfcourt offense and shot 10-for-43 from 3-point range.

Porzingis smiled through his ovation and finished his first trip to TD Garden this season with 11 points and five rebounds. Boston's star tandem of Jaylen Brown (32 points, six rebounds, five assists) and Jayson Tatum (24 points, 10 rebounds, five 3-pointers) combined for 39 first-half points.

As Brown and Tatum scored at will, the Warriors (33-36) struggled to open their offense - missing 18 of 24 first-half 3-point attempts to trail 63-50 at halftime. Tatum snaked around top-of-the-key screens and cast 3-pointers without hesitation as the Celtics spaced their offense around Brown, who went to work in isolation.

If not for Spencer's 10 first-half points and 11 first-half points for Guis Santos, the Warriors would've been lifeless on offense with their starting backcourt of De'Anthony Melton and Brandin Podziemski shooting 1-for-10.

The tandem finished with 15 points on 3-for-17 shooting.

Golden State opened the second half with a 6-0 run to cut its deficit to seven but Boston (46-23) countered with a 24-10 run to reinforce its control and its lead that stretched to 26.

The Warriors continue their six-game trip Friday against the Detroit Pistons.

Celtics 120, Warriors 99
