KS is good but what was his record last year
They had a bunch of injuries but so did we. You like stats but not so much when they aren't in your favor.
You mean when they were the #4 ranked offense and #8 ranked defense in yardage? When they were 1-7 in games decided by a TD or less?

Okay man.

He was healthy enough to start practicing late but wasn’t good enough to join the active roster.
Can you cite your source that he wasn't good enough to join the active roster?

What was their record?
6-11. Lots of unlucky breaks and now they’re the betting favorites to win the NFC West.

Kyle Shanahan is 70-62 as a head coach, leading San Francisco to two Super Bowls and two more Conference Championship Games. Yeah. He’s neck-and-neck with Jonathan Gannon.

So you're guessing. Dont you call everyone else for that?

Interesting....

I honestly dont care. Just giving you a hard time.
It’s an evidence-based inference. Not making things up. No one is gonna write “he sucked we couldn’t play him ahead of Kei’Trel Clark.” Even practice is closed that late in the year.

The team website did a profile that said he got offseason surgery. This quote from Gannon certainly doesn’t seem like it was a hard decision to keep him sidelined:

"The big thing for him, with me, was just his lifestyle habits, meaning it's hard for him to keep on weight so we have to change his diet and he's got to be consistent with that," coach Jonathan Gannon said. "That's hard for a lot of guys."

All your post did was reinforce that he wasn't 100% at any point last year if he needed surgery in the off season. As for the quote, that was about the off season. It is shocking that a kid needed help with nutrition while deal with a major injury for the first time and having to rehab vs train. Shocking, I know!! So, you are making assumptions here about last season.

Kyle Shanahan was 10-24 his first 2 years with the niners. Oops.

This is possibly the first time anyone called whatever undisclosed ankle injury he has “major.” Many, many people here suspected he was being stashed on IR last year. Again, they activated him in December. Here’s a video of him in pads after practice on Dec 5 saying reasonable expectations are that he plays special teams and defense.

I know you’re super-persnickety about word choice but my guy did not have an ACL tear.
He needed surgery, that's major. End of story.

This is a different topic, but I still find it funny you have Sirianni way below Shanny despite having a better resume, lol.

Yup but we’re not comparing Gannon to Shanahan in 2017; we’re comparing him to Shanahan in 2025. Oops.
Gannon has only coached 2 seasons for a team that just fired their GM and HC, we all knew a rebuild was coming. Good thing Shanahan was given grace after starting worse over 2 seasons than Gannon was and turned that around. Gannon is a bum and can't stiff his jock though.

okay.
in 2025 Gannon added several solid players to his defense to improve his team.

what did shanny do?

Because we aint got nothing more than that to date.

oh wait...shanny lost his main target on offense...what else?

Shanahan wasn’t given a ton of grace. People here (Krang) were talking about how overrated he was after he made his first Super Bowl.

I stated my opinion on Gannon upthread. Gannon can be an above-average head coach and still be third-best in the division. The NFC West might be the second-strongest division w/r/t Head coaches after the AFC West.

Monti has been mid. Draft and FA. Can't be on here saying MHJ is disappointing and then arguing Monti has drafted well. Can't be saying Michael Wilson is a terrible WR2 but Monti hit on that draft pick. Paris Johnson actually has to be a top 10 LT for that pick to be considered good. Same with Melton and Darius Robinson.

Now, I have my personal feelings on what I think some of these drafted players will do, but once again, this is an example of the board giving Monti credit for something that hasn't happened yet.

sucky to .500 to playoffs - this appears to be the trajectory and im more than good with that

we're not a year behind - the early suck was on purpose (aka mhj) - monti's picks have had injuries but their not busts as of today

unless something crazy stupid happens monti is no where near the hotseat - he's improved the roster so well it's hard to tell what position we need to draft - that's huge for us

it's gannon time now - monti did his thing - his offense didn't change - the defense is new but this will be game 18 for our offense and chemistry is a beautiful thing

and don't get me started on defense - where rallis made risotto out of minute rice and now monti's given him death row upfront with ball hawks in the back - forgetaboutit

folks worried our coordinators might get poached - ummmm - talk about rich people problems lol poor us - this happens with all quality party planners because everybody wants to party

look - im realistic but im also more optimistic than an nba player at a kardashian reunion with an open bar - this is due to monti freakin ossenfort - and we will ultimately sing his name in praise the way real footballers do

ossen ossen ossen - fort fort fort

And this could be the case, but I will wait for it to happen first.
