Here are 10 candidates for Guthrie Athlete of the Week for the period of May 16-22, which saw postseason play hit full swing.
Nominees are from the coverage areas of the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, Elmira Star-Gazette, Ithaca Journal and Corning Leader. They are based primarily on submitted results.

The nominees:
Brevin Bennett, Norwich boys golf: Bennett had rounds of 75 and 72 at the par-72 Mark Twain Golf Course to win the title at the Section 4 medalist tournament by six strokes. He qualified for the NYSPHSAA tournament, to be held June 6-7 at Mill Creek Golf Club in Churchville.
Ross Bush, Groton boys track & field: Bush secured four victories at the Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship meet. He won the 400-meter run (51.71), the 800 (1:55.72), and the 1600 (4:22.38). Bush also finished first in the boys pentathlon (2920).
LilliOnna D'Introno, Susquehanna Valley softball: D'Introno pitched a no-hitter in a win over Sidney in a Section 4 Class B quarterfinal. She struck out 16 and walked 2.
Paige Ells, Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour softball: Ells struck out 13 in a 3-hitter while allowing an unearned run in a victory over Whitney Point in the Section 4 Class B quarterfinals. She went 2-for-2 with a homer, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, and 2 walks.
Matti Johnston, Corning softball: Johnston pitched a 4-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a win over Vestal in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference championship game. She was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 runs after going 2-for-3 with a run in a semifinal win over Waverly.
Cella McLaughlin, Corning girls track & field: McLaughlin was a quadruple winner at the Southern Tier Athletic Conference championship meet, helping the Hawks to the team title. She won the 100-meter dash (12.07 seconds), the 100 hurdles (14.01), the long jump (18 feet, 5.25 inches), and was part of a winning 1600 relay (4:02.51).
Michael Morrissey, Sidney boys track & field: Morrissey won the shot put (55 feet, 5 inches) and discus (148 feet, 7 inches) to help Sidney capture the team title at the Midstate Athletic Conference championships.
Max Policare, Maine-Endwell baseball: Policare went 3-for-4 with a homer, double, 3 runs, and 5 RBIs to lead the Spartans past Owego in the deciding Game 3 of a Section 4 Class A semifinal series. For the series, Policare went 6-for-10 with 7 runs and 6 RBIs.
Nolan Stark, Oneonta baseball: Stark tossed a 4-hitter in a victory over Horseheads in the STAC semifinals. He went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI in the win, then scored 2 runs in a victory over Vestal in the championship game. Stark pitched a 5-inning perfect game with 10 strikeouts in a victory over Spencer-Van Etten/Candor in a Section 4 Class B quarterfinal. He went 4-for-5 with 2 homers, 5 runs, and 5 RBIs.
Dejah Taylor, Sidney girls track & field: Taylor finished first in the 400-meter dash (59.2) and the 200 (25.98) at the Midstate Athletic Conference championships. She anchored Sidney's victorious 400 relay (52.64) and placed third in the pole vault (6 feet, 6 inches).
