GAYLORD ― The spring high school sports season has come and gone. Now, it's your chance to pick the top athletes from the Gaylord area in each sport. First up, the track and field athletes are looking for your votes.
Plenty of area athletes made it to their respective state finals, while some set their names in stone as school record holders. Now, it's time to decide who had the best 2026 season.
Calvin Cosby, Gaylord - set new school pole vault record (15 feet, 4 inches), won 11 of 13 pole vault events, Division 2 state runner-up in pole vault
Jimmy Jorgenson, Gaylord - set new school records in 100m (11.12 seconds) and 200m (22.31 seconds), qualifying for the Division 2 state finals.
Tyrek Jones, Gaylord - Jones had the top 400-meter time of area athletes (54.20 seconds) and the furthest mark in long jump (19 feet, 6 inches).
Andrew Rosser, St. Mary - Rosser had the top 400-meter time for Gaylord St. Mary (1:09.31) and the top long jump mark (15 feet, 11.25 inches).
Riley Buchler, JoBurg - Buchler, a top wrestler, had top marks in shot put (37 feet, 6 inches) and discus (114 feet, 10 inches) for JoBurg.
Lucas Parker, JoBurg - Parker had JL's top times in the 800-meter (2:22.93) and the 1600-meter (5:22.28).
Lillian Mason, Gaylord - top times in the 100m (12.83 seconds), 200m (26.48) and 400m (1:04.77) and set a new school record in pole vault (11 feet, 3 inches).
Katie Berkshire, Gaylord - Berkshire was still elite despite limited opportunities in 2026, leading area runners in the 1,600m (4:50.50) and 3,200m (10:26.87), both school records.
Ivy Roberts, Gaylord - Roberts had the top time in the 300-meter (49.36 seconds) and the top mark in the high jump (5 feet, 4 inches) amongst area female athletes.
Harlie Fox, JoBurg - Fox qualified for the Division 4 state finals in the 1,600m, eventually setting a new personal best at the finals meet at 5:49.32.
Danielle Agren, JoBurg - Agren set a personal best in the 3,200m at 12:51.75, eventually qualifying for the D4 state finals.
Jaeden Briley, JoBurg - Despite a shortened season, Briley still led the area with the top 100m hurdles time (17.69 seconds) and had top top marks for female athletes in shotput (30 feet, 1 inch) and discus (86 feet, 3 inches).
Kaylee Jeffers, St. Mary - Jeffers had the Snowbirds' top 200m time this season (29.62 seconds) and helped the 4x100m relay team qualify for the D4 state finals.
Paisley Kirkby, St. Mary - Kirkby had the Snowbirds' top 100m time this season (13.61 seconds) and was also part of the state-qualifying 400m relay team.
