With the conclusion of the Tennessee high school track and field season, The Daily Herald spotlighted the area's top athletes as part of our All-Area teams.

Independence's Asher Oates was named our 2026 Boys Athlete of the Year, but now we're giving fans the chance to select the athlete they believe made the greatest mark this past season. Vote below for the Columbia area's top TSSAA boys track and field athlete in the 2026 high school season.

Here are the nominees.

Jayden Brooks, Columbia Academy, Jr.: Brooks finished fifth in the 800 meter at the DII-A Middle Region meet with a time of 2:01.93, narrowly missing out on qualification for the TSSAA state championship meet.

Maine Metz, Columbia Academy, Jr.: Metz finished eighth in the decathlon at the DII-A state championship meet, totaling 5,001 points. He also claimed third in the pole vault at the Middle Region meet, clearing a mark of 10-6.

Brannon Davis, Columbia Central, Sr.: Davis ended the season with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump at the Class AAA state championships, jumping 45-1½.

Quinn D'Amico, Independence, Jr.: D'Amico closed the season with an 11th-place finish in the discus at the Section 4-AAA meet (127-7) and seventh-place finish in the Section 4 East Sub-Section meet (120-2).

Asher Oates, Independence, Sr.: The NC State signee finished first in both the 1,600-meter and 3,200 at the Class AAA state championships, clocking in at 4:13.98 in the 1,600 and 9:22.07 in the 3,200.

Owen Turner, Independence, Jr.: Turner threw 44-3½ in the shot put to secure an 11th-place finish at the Section 4-AAA meet, while his mark of 45-6 earned him third at the Section 4 East Sub-Section meet.

Caden Wittman, Independence, Sr.: Wittman claimed fifth in the 300 hurdles at the Class AAA state championships with a time of 38.27. He also finished fifth in the 110 hurdles at the Section 4-AAA meet, clocking in at 14.45.

Reeves Gill, Spring Hill, Sr.: Gill finished third at the Class AA state championship meet as he ran a PR of 10.69 seconds, the second fastest 100-meter time by a Raiders runner all season.

Nathan Highland, Spring Hill, Sr.: Highland finished third in the 200 meter at the Class AA state championship meet with a time of 21.6 seconds, just .11 seconds behind the state champ. He also finished fifth in the 100 at state.

Michael Crutcher, Summit, Sr.: Crutcher jumped 6-feet, 2 inches to finish sixth in the high jump at the Section 4-AAA meet, while he claimed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 21-5¼.

Benjamin Thompson, Summit, Sr.: Thompson clocked in at 49.63 in the 400 meter to claim an 11th-place finish at the Class AAA state championship meet.
