TOPEKA — The final month of high school sports is finally here and top performances are continually achieved by Shawnee County athletes.
It's now time to vote for the Envista Federal Credit Union's athlete of the week for April 27-May 2. Voting closes at noon on Friday. Here are the nominees.

The senior was able to hoist the Topeka City Championship in the singles division on Thursday, April 30. Fay defeated Topeka High’s Tres Lassiter 8-3 for the title. Last year, Fay won the city title in doubles before returning to singles play in his final season.
When Shawnee Heights needed a hero, Hayes stepped up big for the Thunderbirds. Shawnee Heights trailed 2-1 with only one out remaining, Hayes slapped an opposite field single scoring two runs to defeat Piper and keep their dreams of winning the United Kansas Conference alive.
The junior came away with the biggest hit of the game on Wednesday, April 29. Hubbell delivered the walk-off single to give Rossville a 7-6 win against Holton. Rossville enter this week victors of seven of their last nine games.
The freshman was electric in her school’s home invitational on Friday, May 1. Johnson threw down a 12.36 in the 100-meter dash and a 25.83 in the 200-meter dash claiming the titles in both events. Both times are the fastest in Shawnee County this season. Her 100-meter dash time also ranks first in the United Kansas Conference and top five in all of Class 5A.
The senior continues to be the city's premier distance runner. Kehoe won the 3,200-meter event at the Seaman Relays in a time of 9:23.61. It’s his fastest time of the season and was only seven seconds away from a personal best.

April 6-11:Justice McBurney, Washburn Rural softball
April 13-18: Cameron Miller, Rossville baseball
