But before we get there, we need help from our readers.

Much like we did for the fall and winter sports seasons, our readers will have a say in who our Players of the Year are in all the spring sports. We've cut down the list of the best of the best into an even more elite group (no easy task). We limited each school to a maximum of one candidate.
Vote for our Patriot Ledger High School Softball Player of the Year. Reader votes will make up 20% of the tally, with our four staff reporters (Eric McHugh, Jason Snow, Ryan Vermette and Chris McDaniel) making up the rest of the vote.
Voting will conclude on Tuesday, July 7.
Sophomore pitcher crafted a 20-3 record with a 1.06 ERA, striking out 174 over 145 innings. ... Hit .423 and led the Rams in home runs (6) and RBIs (31). ... Patriot League Keenan Division MVP led Marshfield (20-3) to the Div. 2 quarterfinals. ... Said coach Rick Fredericks: "Caroline was a force, both at the plate and in the circle. She is definitely a game-changer."

She struck out only twice, drew 17 walks and scored 40 runs. .... Became the program's all-time leader in batting average, homers and RBIs. ... Coach R.J. Maturo said the Bowdoin College commit had a "legendary season."
Senior catcher hit .409 with 11 home runs and 36 RBIs in leading the Wildcats (16-6) to the Div. 2 Round of 16. ... Was on base 18 times via a walk or hit-by-pitch. ... Career numbers: 100 hits, 26 homers, 104 RBIs and a .395 batting average. ... Three-time Bay State Conference All-Star. ...
