No. 21 Tennessee (14-4, 1-0 SEC) defeated No. 8 Georgia (16-4, 0-1 SEC), 7-4, in a SEC opener for both schools Friday at Foley Field in Athens, Georgia.

The Vols led, 2-0, in the third inning after Henry Ford hit a two-run single, scoring Garrett Wright and Jay Abernathy Jr.

The Bulldogs scored four runs in the fifth inning, all with two outs to take a lead, 4-2.

Tennessee tied the contest, 4-4, after Manny Marin hit a two-run double in the sixth inning before regaining the lead on a solo home run by Ford, making the score, 5-4.

Stone Lawless and and Marin each hit solo home runs in the eighth inning.

Ford went 2-for-5 and hit one home run. He scored two runs and recorded three RBIs, while Marin went 2-for-4. He hit one home run and one double.

Brandon Arvidson (1-0) pitched 4.1 innings. He allowed two hits and two walks, while recording four strikeouts. Arvidson totaled 63 pitches, including 40 strikes.

Tegan Kuhns started and pitched 4.2 innings for the Vols. He allowed four hits and six hits. Kuhns recorded six strikeouts, while totaling 86 pitches, including 61 strikes.

Brady Frederick made a relief appearance in the fifth inning and did not retire a batter. He allowed one hit and one walk, while totaling six pitches, including two strikes.
