Here's another link I came across and it might be of some interest.... It's http://www.reelradio.com and the site contains full broadcasts and soundchecks of radio stations from this past half-century.... The following links are directly to Phoenix radio broadcasts.....

http://www.reelradio.com/bj/index.html#lmkriz0471 [scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll find a KRIZ, Phoenix broadcast from 04/71]

http://www.reelradio.com/gifts/cekriz052478.html#cekriz052478 [KRIZ, Phoenix, AZ 05/24/78]

http://www.reelradio.com/mh/kriz0778.html#kriz0778 [final hour of KRIZ, Phoenix, AZ on 07/14/78]

http://www.reelradio.com/gifts/tekriz66.html#tekriz66 [KRIZ, Phoenix, AZ on 08/66...what is fascinating about this broadcast is that midway through is a song "Lovin' Just My Style" by a local Phoenix band from that era I believe called the Caravelles, which sounded like a mixture of The Yardbirds and The Kinks, if anyone who is familiar with Phoenix music from that era might remember them]

http://www.reelradio.com/jl/index.html#krux75 [KRUX, Phoenix, AZ circa '75, its the third one from the top of the page]

http://www.reelradio.com/gifts/cbktkt59.html#cbktkt59 [KTKT, Tucson, AZ, '59]

http://www.reelradio.com/mh/jmfktkt0869.html#jmfktkt0869 [KTKT, Tucson, AZ 08/19/69]

http://www.reelradio.com/br/index.html#mixfm97 [KMXZ, Tucson, AZ, '97]

http://www.reelradio.com/rook/index.html#ktkt76 [KTKT, Tucson, AZ, '76]

I love this site since I've very nostalgic and it features a bunch of legendary DJs when they were in their primes and also gives one a sense of how Arizona was like back then or rekindles memories of those who experienced it... And, some of these songs aren't played on the radio either.....Also, the commerical and jingles are hilarious to listen to now.... So, enjoy!

Do they have a link to the local Phoenix DJ's remake of Amadeus by Falco? Didn't one of the local Phoenix guys make it into "Rock Me Jerry Lewis"???

Nice find!

I'm still looking for the parody of America's "Horse With No Name" called "Horse With No Legs"...does anyone else remember that?

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to come across it.... What's so hilarious is that on Detroit radio (circa '86) I remember a station played a satire regarding Mo Kadafi to the tune of "Rock Me Amadeus" as well....

I haven't heard of that, but I'll make a point to post it on here if I ever find it...

old Phx songs

For Falco remake of Amadeus to Jerry Lewis, go to
http://www.crapfromthepast.com/favorites/sounds/rockmejerrylewis.rm

You must have REAL MEDIAtm to hear.

The Horse with No Name, Party Animals (we're not leaving til your heaving), Snowbird songs were on an album by Jonathan Brandmeier in the 80s when he was in Phx (KZZP??). I think it was called "This album stinks" and it had a scratch and sniff spot which smelled like trash when scratched. My bro used to have it.

Couldn't find any clips, but did get lyrics. See
http://lyrics.rare-lyrics.com/J/Jonathan-Brandmeier.html
I noticed the Party animal lyrics actual are the "mick jaggar, why are your lips so big", so .... "horse with no legs" lyrics look legit

Well, Unfortunately, when I was growing up in the 70s, I was smaller than my brother. He listened to 550 KOY which played the likes of Barry Manilow, Barbra Streisand, Neil Diamond, etc. I do remember Heywood (who is now on KFNN 1510) but not much else. Bro was bigger and older than me, so I never got into the other stuff (Kiss, Eagles, Supertramp,etc.).

In the 80s, I remember a few DJs/bands (Pratt, Brandmeier, Tubes, etc.) but I switched to different style then which wasn't played much, Christian rock (1190 KRDS christian radio had Friday/Saturday late night rock). Also, got serious about school then so no time to listen.

Now, I listen to talk radio (usually KFYI as KTAR has gone down the tubes the last several years-esp this yr) or Christian radio (88.7 Airone is contemporary/rock; 89.9 the effect is alternative/rock) or my CDs (mostly Christian).
