BOSTON – The Boston Bruins (43-24-8) jumped ahead, were tied, then pulled away from the Dallas Stars (44-19-12), beating them 6-3 on Tuesday night at TD Garden.
Viktor Arvidsson (22) scored a hat trick, though two of them were empty-netters; Marat Khusnutdinov (15) and Elias Lindholm (17) each had one, and Henri Jokiharju (1) scored his first goal in the Spoked B.
Joonas Korpisalo made 13 saves to record his 13th win of the season.
It was Pavel Zacha’s 700th career game and Fraser Minten’s 100th.
Marat Khusnutdinov opened the scoring at 9:58. David Pastrnak played the puck off the boards to Henri Jokiharju, who shot it. Jake Oettinger made the save, but Khusnutdinov buried the rebound.
Then, as the first Bruins’ power play of the night expired, Pastrnak threw the puck toward Oettinger’s crease. Viktor Arvidsson connected from the far post and extended the Bruins’ lead to two.
The Bruins took a 2-0 lead and a 9-5 shots advantage into the first intermission.
Jamie Benn scored at 4:48 of the second period to get the Stars on the board.
An unmarked Matt Duchene erased the Bruins’ lead with 3:07 to play in the second.
The Bruins started the third period with 20 seconds remaining on a power play. They only needed 13 seconds to capitalize. Elias Lindholm broke into the offensive zone and scored his first power-play goal since January 22.
Just over five minutes later, Lindholm played a back-pass to Henri Jokiharju at the blue line. The Finnish Olympian fired home his first goal as a Bruin after 57 games, extending the lead to 4-2.
Viktor Arvidsson scored his second of the night with a 125-foot empty-net goal, coming from behind the Bruins’ blue line. He added his third goal with 12.6 seconds left from 115 feet out.
It is Arvidsson’s first hat trick since March 4, 2022, when he was with the Los Angeles Kings.
His two goals sandwiched Wyatt Johnston’s power play goal in the final minute.
The Bruins will now embark on a four-game road trip, which starts in Sunrise, FL, on Thursday against the Florida Panthers (36-35-3). They will continue against Tampa Bay (46-22-6), Philadelphia (37-25-12), and close the trip in Raleigh against the Hurricanes (47-21-6).
