The Minnesota Vikings have a pair of roster decisions ahead of the new league year in 2026, one of which includes a former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Vikings told running back Aaron Jones and defensive tackle Javon Hargrave that they will be released at the start of the new league year.
The move, which saves $18.65 million in cap space for Minnesota, gives Hargrave and the Steelers a chance to reunite in 2026, as Pittsburgh is still expected to heavily address its defensive line this offseason.
Selected by the Steelers with the 89th overall pick in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Hargrave played four seasons with Pittsburgh before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020.
Hargrave went on to play some of his best football away from Pittsburgh, being named to his first two Pro Bowls and even making a Super Bowl with the Eagles.
At 33 years old, Hargrave's level of play is on an obvious downward trajectory, but one could argue he's still a starting-caliber defensive tackle capable of doing big things in Pittsburgh this upcoming season.
