All 32 NFL teams are focused on OTAs and minicamps following the 2026 NFL draft, but a handful of organizations could be peeking towards the loaded 2027 NFL draft. The Minnesota Vikings will enter training camp with 2023 first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz, and Max Brosmer on the roster at the quarterback position.

It's star power and big names galore, but Bleacher Report has identified Minnesota as a prime candidate to pursue a franchise quarterback in the 2027 NFL Draft, with uncertainty surrounding their current QB room and long-term outlook.

Kristopher Knox identified every team's urgency at the position and listed the Vikings as a franchise that could look to reset at the position depending on what happens with McCarthy and Murray in 2026. With the 2027 class widely viewed as loaded with elite signal-callers, Minnesota could position itself to reset at the position if current options fail to deliver.

The Minnesota Vikings haven't fully turned the page on J.J. McCarthy, but this year's Kyler Murray experiment could have Minnesota going in a different direction sooner rather than later.

After allowing Darnold to depart for the Seahawks and rolling with McCarty, Minnesota finished with a 9-8 record, last place in the NFC North, and on the outside looking in on the postseason. Even worse, Darnold went on to win Super Bowl LX with his new team in Seattle, while McCarthy struggled with injuries and was unable to connect with Justin Jefferson when he was on the field. McCarthy ranked bottom of the league in several categories and contributed to the firing of general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.

This offseason, the Vikings added former Arizona Cardinals signal-caller Kyler Murray and re-signed veteran Carson Wentz. There will be a high-profile quarterback battle once we get to training camp, but another season on the outside of the playoffs could put Minnesota firmly in position to retool at the position and seek a quarterback in the draft.

Texas' Arch Manning is the current favorite to go No. 1, but other talented passers like Oregon's Dante Moore, Ohio State's Julian Sayin, Notre Dame's CJ Carr, and others could also be top-five picks.
