Tyson Fury could have hit the heavy bag on Friday in preparation for his fight against Anthony Joshua later this year. Instead, he has upgraded his plans slightly, with a tune-up fight against Mariusz Wach.
At 6-7 and 275 pounds, Wach will almost match Fury in size. But has lost seven of his last 10 fights.
(Wach did fight for the heavyweight title against Wladimir Klitschko, but that was in 2012 and he lost that bout by unanimous decision and in lopsided fashion.)
The fight between Fury, the 37-year-old from Great Britain, and Wach, a 46-year-old from Poland, is scheduled for 10 rounds. FanDuel lists Fury as a -3500 favorite.
Quick refresher: Fury announced his retirement in January 2025, a month after losing to Oleksandr Usyk by unanimous decision -- Fury’s second loss to Usyk.
Lured by a blockbuster fight against Joshua, Fury ended his retirement and in April beat Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous decision. That same month, Fury and Joshua signed contracts to fight each other in late 2026 at a date and site still to be determined.
Tyson Fury’s heavyweight fight against Mariusz Wach will not be aired live. The fight is expected to be shown later this year on Fury's Netflix series, "At Home With The Fury."
