Fight fans got more than they bargained for last night (Fri., April 3, 2026) at LFA 230 from inside Grand Casino Hotel & Resort in Shawnee, Oklahoma, when a tornado warning and severe thunderstorms cost the event power and forced a 30-minute long evacuation.

Last night’s LFA 230 event was going down without a hitch as eight total fights completed before the nasty Oklahoma weather decided to throw everyone for a loop. Midway through a middleweight clash between Jake Woodley and Shane Sobnosky, the venue lost power from major thunderstorms overhead. Once the power was restored and the action continued, authorities were forced to evacuate the entire building due to tornado warnings in the area.

It’s rare for a MMA card to stop like this, but that’s what happens when you host an event in the heart of “Tornado Alley.”

“The show must go on.,” said LFA play-by-play announcer Ron Kruk. “A truly unprecedented situation in Shawnee, Oklahoma, as tornado warnings and major thunderstorms knocked out power here at The Grand Casino resort. It was during Jake Woodley’s fight. Power was lost.

“They did restore it, but as we continued to go on we were evacuated to a safe area because of the tornado warning. Everyone in the building left. Safety first, of course. We were evacuated for about 30 minutes. Pretty scary situation. We were brought back in and now the tornado warning has been cleared and the show much go on.“
