For the third night in a row, the Milwaukee area was hit with a deluge of rain, and this time not even the roof at American Family Field could keep out the water.
It turned out to be the least of worries for fans attending the game on April 15. Live coverage from Milwaukee TV station Fox 6 showed Brewers Boulevard – a major thoroughfare that handles a high volume of departing stadium traffic – was essentially underwater in the moments after the game, with cars stranded after attempting to pass.
With the southbound exit closed, vehicles were funneled away from the stadium on Canal Street.
During the Brewers' contest against Toronto, rain poured into the stadium in multiple locations, a worse-than-usual outcome for a stadium that has occasionally been vulnerable to leaks in past years when the weather is severe enough.
That included a spot on the warning track in center field.
Brewers Boulevard also flooded in August of 2025, and the stadium let in some water during a Brewers game when severe flooding decimated the Milwaukee area after an overnight storm.
The stadium was built with North America's only radial, retractable roof, the signature feature of the structure that opened in March of 2001. The design of the roof, with large movable panels converging from either side, wasn't designed to be air-tight or watertight. As a result, heavy rain and high winds can send water down on the playing field or in the seats.
The weather on April 15 was certainly severe, bringing flash flooding to the Milwaukee area and creating a significant headache for fans leaving the stadium after the 2-1 win.
Though American Family Field did experience a 9-minute rain delay in 2019 when a storm popped up before the roof could be closed, the water leaking through has yet to delay a game, Wednesday night included.
Tornado sirens sounded in Milwaukee around the time of Brewers first pitch the night before, April 14, though the severe weather threat passed as the game continued. It was the second night in a row with area tornado warnings. Wednesday marked the third, with a tornado warning in counties south of the Milwaukee metro.
