Former WTA World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka celebrated her 36th birthday on July 31.
Azarenka has been quiet on social media and has not played professional tennis since last year’s US Open.
Her birthday message, loaded with gratitude, shared nothing about her future tennis plans.

She mentioned that she was reflecting on her day while driving home from Pilates. Her parents spent the day with her which is something that she admitted has not happened in years on her birthday.
Azarenka said: “For the first time in a long time, I didn’t find myself wishing for anything. I just felt grateful. Grateful to be present, to enjoy the moment, and to appreciate the people around me.”
She added: “I’ve also spent some time away from the public eye recently, and it’s given me the chance to enjoy quiet moments, private moments, and family moments that I haven’t really been able to experience since I was very young. Those moments have become incredibly meaningful to me.”

With no mention of tennis, many wonder if she is telling us, without coming out to say it, that her tennis career is over.
Long farewell tours are exhausting, and Azarenka is a single mother whose priorities are focused on her son Leo.
