Victor Wembenyama is calling on some of the older generation in a bid to go one step better when the NBA season starts again.

Victor Wembanyama’s progress last season was clear to anyone watching. The Spurs star took a massive leap on both ends of the floor, anchoring San Antonio’s defense with dominant shot-blocking while steadily expanding his offensive bag.

And the work doesn’t stop there, as he’s been spotted working on a new signature weapon: Dirk Nowitzki’s famous one-legged fadeaway. At seven-foot-four, adding that unblockable high-release jumper makes his scoring potential nearly impossible to deal with.

But that’s not all, as he’s also working one-on-one with an NBA legend.

Jared Weiss of The Athletic is claiming that Victor Wembanyama has been training with Rockets’ Legend Hakeem Olajuwon this offseason, and his charging rate is around $100k per week to work out with him.

Working with Hakeem Olajuwon is all about learning how to outsmart defenders using sheer footwork and timing. The Dream is showing Wemby how to operate out of the post effortlessly, setting up defenders with clever fakes and sharp spin moves.

As mentioned, Olajuwon reportedly charges around $100,000 a week for his private workouts, mostly because he offers something money rarely buys. He possessed arguably the best footwork and fake moves in basketball history, meaning players aren’t paying for standard conditioning.

He also keeps his client list extremely small, only taking on a handful of players each summer. When you factor in his proven track record with icons like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, paying top dollar is an easy decision for a talent like Victor Wembanyama looking to make his mark.
