Former NFL tight end Vernon Davis has been accused of attacking a pregnant woman with magazines and books during an abortion argument last year, TMZ Sports reported Thursday.
According to TMZ, a criminal complaint filed in January 2026 alleged that Davis was in a "disagreement" with a woman at his home in May 2025 over her pregnancy and whether she would have an abortion, when he allegedly attacked the woman with books and magazines. An arrest warrant for Davis was reportedly issued on Jan. 8.
Davis, 41, most recently played in the NFL for the Washington Commanders in 2019, retiring in 2020. In the year since his retirement, he has been involved with various media appearances and business ventures.

Vernon Davis arrest warrant, explained
On Thursday, TMZ reported that Davis was being accused of "attacking a woman with magazines and books during an argument over an abortion last year."
Based on a criminal complaint filed on Jan. 8, a woman claimed that she was at Davis' home on May 31, 2025, when there was a "disagreement over her pregnancy," per TMZ. Davis allegedly began to hit the woman with magazines and books from under his TV and offered her $10,000, but "stopped in his tracks when she pulled out her phone to record him."
Additionally, TMZ reported that another argument between Davis and the woman happened on June 7, 2025, in which she accused Davis of lying to her. Davis allegedly "slapped her in the face and told her 'not to question him,' and the woman reportedly recorded a later conversation where he said, "If I really slapped you, your face would be blue/black."
According to the criminal complaint obtained by TMZ, the woman also said there had been a prior physical altercation with Davis, before the May 31 incident, where he "left her with visible bruises," with there being "an open strangulation and assault case regarding that matter."
A warrant for Davis' arrest was issued on Jan. 8 for assault and battery, per TMZ, and he has a court date scheduled in February.
