No. 4 seed Vanderbilt (25-7, 11-7 SEC) defeated No. 5 seed Tennessee (22-11, 11-7 SEC), 75-68, in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals Friday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Vols and Commodores were tied, 31-31, at halftime.
Ja'Kobi Gillespie totaled 21 points, four assists, two rebounds and one steal. He converted 8-of-14 field goal attempts, 3-of-7 three-point attempts and 2-of-4 free throw attempts and was one of four Tennessee players to score 10-plus points in the contest against the Vanderbilt.
Nate Ament and J.P. Estrella scored 12 points each for the Vols. Ament posted a double-double as he recorded 11 rebounds. He also finished with two assists and two steals. Estrella also had six rebounds and one assist.
Jaylen Carey had 10 points, five rebounds and one assist for the Vols, who outrebounded the Commodores, 46-34, and committed nine nine turnovers in the contest.
Vanderbilt's Duke Miles led all scorers in the game as he had 30 points. He also totaled six rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Commodores, who committed six turnovers.
