EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP men's basketball team will tip off its inaugural Mountain West Conference schedule by hosting a pair of longtime rivals, New Mexico and Wyoming, at the Don Haskins Center on January 2 and 5, respectively. The Miners' 2027 Mountain West slate was announced on Wednesday.
UTEP will play 18 league games, including three of the first four in the Haskins Center. The Miners will also entertain Nevada on January 12 after playing at Air Force in the league road opener on January 9.
"Long-time Miner fans will look at this schedule and the opponents and the memories will come flooding back," UTEP coach Joe Golding said. "We're looking forward to playing these teams again, both at home and on the road. And we're excited to start new rivalries with Grand Canyon and UC Davis."
The Miners' first extended road trip will come January 16-19 when they play at UNLV and Wyoming in succession. They'll also have a two-game road swing to New Mexico and Grand Canyon Feb. 20-23.
UTEP will play every Mountain West opponent twice each, once at home and once away. The Miners will also host UC Davis (January 23), San Jose State (January 30), Grand Canyon (February 9), UNLV (February 16), Hawai'i (February 27) and Air Force (March 6). The Air Force game will cap the regular season.
The Miners will renew long-standing rivalries with Air Force (41 all-time meetings), Hawai'i (53), Nevada (14), New Mexico (143), San Jose State (18), UNLV (13) and Wyoming (67). UTEP has faced UC Davis once in 2007 and has never squared off against Grand Canyon.
The MW schedule listed below is the conference's base schedule. CBS Sports Network, FOX Sports, and The CW have not finalized their game selections, and several conference dates may shift on television. Game times and broadcast assignments will be announced after network selections are finalized.
