PG--Paul, Payne, Carter, Okobo
SG--Booker, Carter, Okobo, Alexander
SF--Bridges, Johnson, Crowder, Nader
PF--Crowder, Saric, Johnson, Smith
C--Ayton, Saric, Smith

Any one of Crowder, Saric, or Johnson could end up starting at the 4. Honestly. This team needs only end of the bench players or upgraded starters (and that is really only the pf spot). I think Payne is the real deal for backup pg.

I'm wanting to see what the salary amounts and totals on the roster might look like after it is completed.

In some cases I approximated amounts.

PG:

Chris Paul $41,358,814

Cam Payne $1,977,011

Jevon Carter $3,833,000 *

SG:

Devin Booker $29,430,000

Elie Okobo $1,663,861

C:

Deandre Ayton $10,018,200

Dario Saric $12,000,000 *

SF:

Abdel Nader $1,752,950

Mikal Bridges $4,359,000

PF:

Jae Crowder $10,000,000 *

Cam Johnson $4,235,160

Jalen Smith $4,245,720 *

Two-Way:

Alexander $1,500,000 *

* Approx. values

Total __________

Edit total: $126,373,716

(Now all I need is someone with a calculator)

I believe the luxury tax is at $132.627 million.

I don't think Saric is going to cost $12 million, so that should help some.

I like to estimate too high than too low.

So likely no Baynes.

Now I realize I've operated my whole life under my own personal salary cap. :wink2:

The Suns got up there in a hurry. Thanks for doing the math. I didn't think we were that close.
If that’s the # then there will be no S&T with Baynes. I don’t blame Sarver for not going over the Lux tax. Now is not the time to do that.

BTW. The NFL is a business. The NBA is a hobby. The NBA is a business model that cannot last.

We are awfully thin at SG and SF in this depth chart.

On the outside looking in, it would seem like the Suns would already have the framework for re-signing Saric because his name was never really out there much like other players.

I don't see any excess fat on the Suns roster or payroll. This is probably why negotiating Saric' contract is taking so long.

Letting Okobo go wouldn't save much at all.

The Crowder signing does improve our positional flexibility quite a bit with him being able to play both 3 and 4.

To me Payne is the issue. Unlike you I don't think he is the real deal - and history is on my side. We need a reliable 3rd guard who can create his own shot. Barring a Baynes sign and trade miracle, that probably isn't happening though.

I really don't think he is staying here. I don't think either he or the Suns are interested in that happening.

I think he will end up getting a 6-8 million 1 year deal from somebody's MLE.

Which should tell you something about how other teams view him. Not very favorably.

No way in hell even James Jones is dumb enough to give Dario 12 million a year.

Or they figured the Suns would end up resigning him so why bother? You are so full of absolutes and all of them are negative.

So you are saying there were no reports of other teams being interested in FA's that resigned with their own teams?

I heard lots of them - lots.

I'm not trying to bag on Dario, I think he is underappreciated.

My point is if we are the only one's bidding, we should get a good price.

This was an amount I used to estimate the Suns payroll. Hopefully Saric comes on a more reasonable contract but I prefer Saric at that amount over a number of players making more.

There isn't even a single team that has 12 million in cap space available. Why on Earth would we offer him 3 million over what anyone else could offer him?
