Unlikely scorer gives West Ham the lead in must-win Wolves clash

If you asked West Ham supporters who might be their goalscoring hero tonight, it's unlikely many, if any, would have said Konstantinos Mavropanos.

However, he has stepped up to give the Irons a precious lead against Wolves.



The Greek defender has been a rock at the back in recent weeks but had scored just twice in 95 appearances for the club heading into tonight's crucial game.

That became three fittingly three minutes before the break when he sent a bullet header past José Sá.

Of course, as tends to be the case with West Ham goals, Jarrod Bowen played his part, whipping a fine ball into the box for Mavropanos to do the rest.


A win for the Irons will see them move out of the relegation zone for the first time in months and send Spurs into the bottom three for at least 36 hours.

Can Nuno hold on for a win against his former club and put another of his ex-clubs into a world of trouble?
